Farmageddon...
I was surprised when I heard Pete Ricketts last year in a meeting in Nebraska. In generic T.V. appearances, he seemed a standard upper-class member of congress. I knew he had worked in a Burger King, so while all his white-collar jobs were either family businesses or won through family influence, I thought his actual line work would have drilled into him the need to understand stuff well enough if he was going to try to dictate our course.
I overvalued his Burger King time. Dude was clueless. He didn't understand much of what he was talking about at a technical level, and certainly had no understanding of what it might be like to not be a multi-millionaire. He fell so short of adequate, his own party members were beating up on him. I felt pity for him, being so out of touch, under-informed and whingeing as he realized it.
He's not doing the job for Nebraska. He's cosplaying being a member of Congress.
I say this as someone who worked at the U.S. Senate, on both a legislative staff and a committee staff. It's not just that he's too lightweight to serve in Congress, he's less informed than some Summer interns I worked with.
I've had a lot of jobs, worked with a lot of guys just like this, from money to M.B.A.s from elite Universities to the work world. Some of them are pretty bright and catch on after they've been humbled by the real world. But most just permanently cosplay being management. Like Ricketts.
He's betrayed us while pandering to his millionaire and billionaire buddies, shifting their taxes to us, proudly de-regulating crypto-currency con jobs and going along like a chucklehead while his party's president was tearing up signed contracts with farmers and ranchers and abolishing Land Grant institution ag research. Crushed rural health-care and aid to veterans.
This doesn't EVEN address his jihad on fellow Republicans when he was Governor.
We got to retire dude.
He's either Responsible...or
perhaps IRRESPONSIBLE 🤪
Dude either didn't bother to read The Big Budget Bill or actually bought into its carnage to rural healthcare, veterans' programs, farmers & ranchers...Not just ugly...Baboon-Butt Ugly
